F.A.Q.’s
Everything you might be wondering
Planning a wedding comes with a lot of questions, and I want this part to feel easy. These FAQs cover the things couples ask me most often — from coverage and group photos to portraits, weather, and everything in between. My aim is always to keep the day relaxed, natural, and true to you, and hopefully these answers give you a clear sense of how I work.

QUESTIONS
01.
What if one or neither of us are really comfortable in front of the camera?
Most of the day — honestly, a good 95% of it — I work in a purely documentary way. I step back, let things unfold naturally, and photograph what’s really happening. Your photos feel genuine, and you’ll barely notice you’re being photographed at all.
If you’d like some portraits of the two of you together, it’s completely normal to feel a bit nervous. Most couples I work with feel exactly the same, and as someone who isn’t a fan of being in front of the camera myself, I totally get it. I give gentle, simple guidance to help you relax and connect — nothing stiff or overly posed. We’ll take a short walk around the grounds, and I’ll use small prompts that create those natural in‑between moments you won’t even realise are happening. It’s a calm, easy process, and it always feels like you. A lot of couples tell me afterwards how surprised they were that they actually enjoyed this part of the day. If you’d like to hear how other couples have felt, you can read some of my reviews — they’re a great way to get a sense of the experience.
02.
How much coverage do we need?
It really depends on the flow of your day, but most couples book me from the morning preparations through to a few songs after the first dance. I usually arrive around 1.5 hours before the ceremony — plenty of time to capture the atmosphere, details, and all that lovely pre‑ceremony excitement.
My Full Story package covers this whole arc of the day, though some couples prefer slightly shorter or longer coverage — and that’s completely fine. I’m always happy to chat things through and help you figure out what will suit your plans best, and you can always add extra time a little further down the line if things change.
03.
Do you take the traditional family group photos?
I do, and whilst they might not be the photos most people share, they’re important and the majority of couples want at least some. That said, you probably don’t want to spend your whole drinks reception taking them — so I keep group photos organised, quick and painless.
I recommend sticking to the key family groups (around 5–8 max). On the day, I handle everything, keeping it efficient and flowing so you’re not stuck standing around. If you’d like any extra groups throughout the day — friends from uni, workmates, or anyone else — just give me a shout and I’ll be right there to grab them. You get the important family photos without losing precious time with your guests.
04.
Can we speak before booking?
Absolutely. Some couples book after a quick video call where we chat through your plans, your venue, and what matters most to you. It’s relaxed, friendly, and pressure‑free, just a chance to make sure we’re a good fit. Others prefer simply messaging or email instead, and that’s totally fine too.
05.
What if it’s raining on the day?
Weather never ruins your photos, it just changes the mood. I adapt quickly, find the best light, and use covered areas, windows, doorways or indoor spaces to create beautiful images. I’m also experienced in using artificial light to create my own when the weathers bad (that’s what I’m using in the photo of Lakeisha and Chris below). If you’re up for it, umbrellas and dramatic skies can look incredible too. This is where experience really matters. Over the years I’ve worked in just about every type of weather you can imagine, and I know how to make the most of whatever the day brings. Good weather or bad, either way, you’ll still get a full gallery of photos you love.
06.
How long will it take to receive our photos after the event?
You’ll receive your full gallery within 6 weeks. I take care with every image. I also send over a small preview selection a couple of days after the wedding just to give you something to share straight after the day. You’ll get a private online gallery to share with family and friends, and you can download everything in high resolution.
“We had rain for pretty much the whole day, which at the time we were absolutely gutted about. We had always imagined a sunny wedding and were worried about how our photos would turn out. We really didn’t need to worry, Paul captured everything so beautifully, especially the light, and somehow made even the rainy moments look magical.”

07.
Do you travel for weddingd?
Yes, I cover weddings across Kent, the South East, and further afield in the UK. Travel within Kent and the South East is included, and for weddings a bit further away, I simply add a small travel fee to cover mileage or accommodation if needed. Just let me know where you’re celebrating and I’ll make it work.
08.
We were at a friend’s wedding and they were away for over an hour taking photos during the reception — is that how you work?
I hear stories like this all the time from couples, and I’m always a bit astounded. Your drinks reception is one of the best parts of the day — you should be with your guests, not disappearing for an hour while everyone wonders where you’ve gone.
I work very differently. Most of the day is photographed naturally as it unfolds, and if you’d like some portraits of the two of you together, we keep it relaxed, efficient, and enjoyable. Usually it’s around 15–20 minutes during the drinks reception, and even then it doesn’t feel like you’re “away” — it’s just a short, easy moment together.
09.
Will you blend in with our guests?
Absolutely. I photograph most of the day quietly and naturally, blending in so your guests barely notice I’m there. I move around the room looking for real moments, genuine interactions, and the atmosphere of the day. You won’t find me staging things or interrupting the flow or making myself the centre of attention on the day. I want your photos to feel honest and true to how everything actually felt.
10.
How do you work with videographers?
I work alongside videographers regularly and always make sure we’re in sync. I keep communication open, stay aware of their angles, and move in a way that complements their work. The goal is for both of us to capture your day beautifully without getting in each other’s way. I’ve never once had any issue working with any videographers and I’d be happy to recommend some if you’d like!
11.
What’s your approach during the ceremony?
Quiet, respectful, and unobtrusive. I move carefully and only when necessary, focusing on the emotion, the reactions, and the atmosphere. I never use flash during ceremonies unless absolutely required, and I always follow the rules of your venue or officiant.
12.
How de we book you?
Booking is super simple:
– You choose your package
– You sign a short online contract
– You pay a booking fee of £300 to secure the date
The remaining balance is due one month before the wedding. Everything is handled online, quick and stress‑free.
“Paul did an incredible job. I barely noticed he was there — he blended in perfectly with our guests and surroundings while capturing absolutely everything. Everyone commented on how nice and friendly he was; I’ve never come across that at a wedding before. Beyond that, his style is all about beautiful lighting and those small moments that really make the day. We couldn’t have been happier.”
